fresh air

hanafay

*taken this summer at Redcat. Hannah was looking through this Birmingham city guide that my uncle gave me for my birthday, and we just so happened to be in a local coffee shop. AND Hannah now has a blog...HELLO. Visit it here: Follow Hannah Faye

If I have learned anything the past two weeks, it has been that God is most definitely in control. He reigns in the small things and always grants peace to those who ask of it. Since being in college, my life has become so different in every way. I am a different person. But a constant knowledge of my need for Christ has been a theme of my learning these past two years. And if all I learn in college is that Christ is my everything and that His presence is more important than anything else...so be it. I say that's well worth college tuition (But...trust me I'm learning way more than that, too).

Time spent with God is imperative to a healthy lifestyle. Earlier this week I realized that the word of God and time spent with Him is like fresh air and nourishment. Without that fresh air and nourishment, I get sick from being in such a polluted and dirty world. When I have no time with God I don't have the fresh air and strength I need to be able to withstand and walk through the world.

It's funny how God works through the most uneasy of times to give me peace. And it most definitely is a peace that surpasses all understanding.

family + love

The Saturday before Easter, I worked until 7:30 and then had design project problems until 10:30 or 11. But I was determined to wake up in my home and enjoy breakfast with my family.
So I drove home -- worth it.

Sometimes, (as I've said before) all you need is a trip home to catch a breath.

a summer

sometimes all it takes is a summer for you to realize how much you love your life.
or to remind you of the blessing of

 .home.

GOD is good.
repeat x 1,000,000,000,000

and words never do justice to the warmth in my heart directed towards the people in my life.

a day with film

Monday was a good day.
Garrett and I went to The Red Cat Coffee House (Red Cat)  and sat for a few hours talking, drinking coffee, and reading Jose Villa's photography book and taking some "slightly educated" photos. Reading that book is like studying. So good. So beneficial.
Ashley (friend at AU, owner of Open Eye Photography) gave me a roll of film for my birthday (come to think of it...she also gave me the book) so I wanted to use the film and get it developed in the same day.
We then went to eat at El Barrio   and fell into a food coma from the delicious food(!!!).
THEN met up with some kids (Clay and Serena) and went to see 'Snow White and the Huntsmen' at the dollar theatre. (also. holy cow. so. so. so. good.)

Here, are the Adventures in film:

Sum-sum-summer

the small things are what make summer...summer.
spending the afternoon at the boulder fields with cool kids. and then being able to grab dinner with friends.

but THEN learning that we're (bonhomme) about to make a spontaneous music video at the base of vulcan.
funny story.
i'm wearing nike shorts, a fluorescent sports bra, tank top, and toms.
i end up masquerading the nike shorts by tucking the white piping under and throwing on Garrett's chambray button down (and then I just so happened to have my boots in the car). So I was able to look like I actually had decent clothes on while the guys chilled in their plaid.

ya know?

that's what summer is all about.

and popsicles.

put it all on the table

sometimes when you get together with friends you should just tell everyone to forget about their phones and technology. i'm guilty of texting other people constantly while being with other friends.
i want to learn to just
.be.right.there.

Steel

Or, as I like to call it, Garrett's love song to Birmingham (& of course the people in Birmingham).

We filmed the video at the base of Vulcan (hence, the name Steel).

All I've got to say is I have extremely talented friends.

filmed by Kirk Robert Photography (check him out. he's kind of...awesome.)

birthday

On the actual day of my birthday, Chelsea and I sang 'Boyfriend' by Justin Bieber while still in bed (calling Savanna to the room we were in...she couldn't find us). We all moved to sit on Savanna's bed and talk about life. Then, I had to get ready for my birthday lunch (no idea where I was going...it was a surprise).

Turns out, surprise lunch was at BOTTEGA ....and I'm basically a tad in love with Frank Stitts (local chef/restaurant(s) owner/cookbook author) and Bottega happens to be one of his restaurants.

Once again, blessed.
