Being Thankful

Thanksgiving has to be one of my favorite holidays. Everyone you love gets together and stuffs their faces! Every Thanksgiving reminds me of what a blessed life I have. I have the most wonderful family and friends. Above all I have the most wonderful Father, who sent his son to die for my sins. I'm most thankful for that.

This year I've been studying American History. It's so inspiring to read about the men and women who gave up so much so that we could have a free life. What struck me the most was the fact that most of the men who fought weren't fighting for independence. Sure, that was the final result, but they fought for what mattered most to them: their faith, family, and homes.

I remember in one of Dr. Grant's lectures he said something (paraphrasing) like:
Reading stories about Patriots shouldn't make us think, "I sure wish we had guys like that nowadays." But the stories should teach us that God can take anyone and make them a hero. God can take anyone and make them successful.

We are heirs of such a wonderful kingdom, such an amazing inheritance.

I'm thankful for:
- My God
- My family
- My friends
- The men and women who have fought for us, in recent and past wars
- Music & Art
- History
- Beautiful or Dreary weather

- My heartbeat
